In the last couple of weeks I have had the privilege of visiting some fantastic schools in the area!
A couple of weeks ago I visited Chuter Ede in Balderton, where I took this selfie with the brilliant headteacher Mrs Hunter.
Then on Friday I popped into the Newark Academy to meet students over lunch as part of their regular Literacy Lunches in the library. We talked politics and what’s going on in the world today. The Academy is in a good place right now, with strong leadership, a really impressive culture of respect and kindness and improving academic results. I was pleased to hear that they had a very healthy number of applicants for the academic year starting in September 2018 and look to be moving forwards with confidence.
This week I went to see Mansfield’s Fountaindale Special School to see the kind of facilities we could have in Newark when we rebuild the Orchard. This impressive new school, opened in 2015 shows what we can achieve with our new school which we hope to see plans for in the coming months. You can see me speaking about it in a video link by checking out my Facebook page.
It was equally good to drop in to Tuxford Academy and speak with Year 12 students about politics, local issues and getting involved in campaigning.
