Newark Book Festival 2016

Congratulations to the organisers of this year’s Newark Book Festival.

We were extremely privileged to be joined at the festival by Eva Geiringer Schloss MBE, a Holocaust survivor memoirist and stepdaughter of Otto Frank, the father of Margot and Anne Frank.

Over 160 children and parents took part in the free children’s storytelling pirate boat voyages. The entertainment provided by children’s authors and the free books handed out were a huge hit!

It was wonderful to see so many children taking part in the storytelling sessions and book-related craft making sessions. Some even had the pleasure of meeting Eva Schloss with her inspiring words of love.

Members of the Trent Chamber Orchestra (from the famous violin making school in Newark) preformed a special performance of the theme from Schindlers List, much to the delight of our very special guest Eva.

All in all it was a fantastic occasion and something for the town to be extremely proud of.
