Bus Trips to Parliament

Since my election in 2014, I have greeted more than 1000 of my constituents in Parliament during a series of incredibly popular bus trips to Parliament. The bus trips aim to engage my constituents with the political process and find out about the wealth of history and heritage there is at Westminster.

I am keen to get more people to visit the Houses of Parliament to learn how democracy works and plan to offer more bus trips to residents in future. So far, the tours have taken 3,500 residents from across the constituency, stretching from Bingham in the south right to Rampton in the north and have provided official guided tours around the Houses of Parliament as well as a private question and answer session with me.

Southwell and Lowdham Trips to Parliament – Friday 11 September 2015 & Friday 16 October 2015

100 Southwell residents and 100 Lowdham residents were selected from a random draw to meet me in Parliament on the latest of my constituency trips to Westminster. Thank you for all taking the time to come and visit and for the many questions raised at the Q&A session. I am delighted that County and District Cllr Bruce Laughton and District Cllr Penny Rainbow were able to join us for the Southwell Trip and County Cllr Roger Jackson for the Lowdham trip; a big thank you to them for answering relevant questions during the Q&A.

I will be following up on the questions asked about Friends of Southwell parks and understand that Bruce and Penny will be looking into what can be done about the Church Street site.

Southwell trip to Parliament

In addition to local residents, a number of schools, social groups and pressure groups from around the constituency have visited me in Parliament.

If your local group or school would like to visit Parliament, my office would be more than happy to organise a guided tour and, diary-permitting, a meeting me with. Give my office a call on 01636 612837 to make the necessary arrangements. Please note that parliamentary tours are extremely popular and as such the more advance notice you give me of your visit, the better chance there is of being able to book you in on your specified date!
