Disability Confident Event

Are you an employer that gives equal opportunities to those with disabilities? Do you want to learn about what more can be done to promote positive working practices?

I am writing to invite you to my Disability Confident Event, to be held between 10am and 12pm at the NSDC Council Buildings at Castle House on July 13th, an event I am organising alongside the Newark Jobs Centre.

The event is an opportunity for local businesses to engage in challenging negative attitudes towards employing disabled people, and hear about the importance of promoting equal employment opportunities and how being disability confident can change attitudes for the better.

Signing up to the Disability Confident event sends a powerful message to potential employees that they will get the support they need to thrive in your workplace.

The day will feature talks by a local Law Firm, Lincolnshire Sensory Services, and an interactive session in which you will learn about workplace disabilities. There will also be a networking session where you will have the opportunity to meet potential future employees.

The scheme allows the Government to work with employers in the UK to challenge attitudes towards disability, increase understanding of disability, and to remove barriers to disabled people and those with long term health conditions in employment. This ensures that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.

If you are interested in attending the event and would like to send a representative to hear more about what it means to be Disability Confident, please RSVP by emailing Jack Lewy at lewyj@parliament.uk. The RSVP deadline is Friday 29th June.
