Cyber bullying

The Diana Awards

Today I hosted an event in Parliament to promote the work of the Diana Awards and Vodafone in tackling cyber bullying in schools and helping young people make sensible choices about how they interact online, protect their identity and body image. Social media is an inescapable part of the lives of all young people, but it is contributing to rising mental health concerns and posing challenges unheard of a decade ago.

Once you could leave bullying at school, now it can follow you home. Once you could leave the mistakes of your childhood behind you, now photos can follow you into adulthood. And selfies can be fun, but also leave young people with low self esteem, even exploited by others. There’s a lot of work to be done in this area and this project is a great start.

You can find out about this here:

And apply for workshops in your school. I will be working with them to bring some of these opportunities to local schools shortly.
